JavaFX Coding Challenge : First Place Winner!

Sten Anderson, winner of the first place in the JavaFX Coding Challenge has been working with Java since the late 90s and is currently a Senior Consultant for the software consultancy, Citytech, in Chicago.

Sten blogs about Java, JavaFX, Groovy, and any number of other things.

Here is what Sten had to say about creating his prize winning Application - Music Explorer FX:

Music Explorer FX was a lot of fun to write in JavaFX. JavaFX makes it very easy and intuitive to develop immersive and visual applications. The real power of JavaFX lies not only in facilitating the construction of Rich User Interfaces, but also in giving you the full power of Java at your disposal for the more complex pieces of application development. So with JavaFX, Java developers have a great option for RIA development that will lean on their existing skill set. It's once again an exciting time to be a Java Developer.

Student Winners:

Congratulations to all the Winners!

We'd also like to thank everyone who participated in the Coding Challenge! We received some really impressive JavaFX applications. The winning apps along with many of the runner-ups will also be featured on the community page.

Second Place Winner:

Naoaki Suganuma, created LifeScope, an application that gathers online information about individuals and visualizes them in various ways. This Application took second place in the contest.

Here is Naoaki Suganuma talking about his LifeScope Application and JavaFX:

Now we have a lot of personal information on the web, such as blog, photos, schedule information, contacts and so on. Lifescope is intended to gather such information and to provide several "easy-to-understand" forms.

Since JavaFX Script is a declarative language, I can easily describe and understand object structure. This helps me to build Rich Internet Application, like Lifescope, in short turn-around-time. With many visual functionalities provided by JavaFX, I could build Lifescope application in a short time.

Personally I strongly expect JavaFX visual designer. Using visual designer, we will be able to achieve shorter turn-around-time for RIA development.
